Good news stories: Lovebirds, alpacas and tooth fairies
A V.E.ry good day
Very little could dissuade us Brits from a tea party, not even lockdown. In a show of festive spirit, families all over the country hosted tea parties with their neighbours to mark VE Day on 8th May, all from the comfort of their gardens, balconies and driveways. People decorated their gardens, popped open the bubbles, and made lasting memories in the sunshine.

Alpacas and the tooth fairy are essential workers
We’ve all heard of therapy dogs, but have you heard of therapy alpacas? A team in Southern California have been taking a pair of the sweet Camelids around to nursing homes to boost morale! Truly essential work! Elsewhere, at the start of April, New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern confirmed in no uncertain terms that the Tooth Fairy is also a key worker, and will be continuing with her duties for the foreseeable future.

Dancing zookeepers
Forget the Turkey Trot or the Funky Gibbon, at the moment it’s all about The Zookeeper! Zookeepers up and down the country have been challenging each other via TikTok to add group dances to their daily routine via the #blindinglightchallenge... and have been busy shaking their tail feathers! We bet the animals are loving it!
Harry Kane returns to his roots
Motivated by his love of the beautiful game, and a desire to pay it forward, footballer Harry Kane has purchased the sponsorship for the Leighton Orient 20/21 kit, and donated the advertising space to charity. Three causes will benefit; a children's’ hospice, an NHS charity, and mental health charity, Mind.
Kane said: "This [...] gives me a platform to be able to say a big thank you to the many frontline heroes and charities out there who provide care and support during these challenging times."
Very proud to announce that I'm supporting the club that gave me my first pro start and three amazing causes by sponsoring @leytonorientfc's shirts for the 2020/21 season. pic.twitter.com/hTh1M7xNf3

Star-crossed lovers
Their eyes met across a (not-so) crowded… balcony. In a love story for modern times, a couple from fair Verona caught each other’s eye from their respective balconies during a socially distant lockdown gathering. They looked each other up on social media, and the rest is history. After messaging each other constantly during Italy’s lockdown period, the couple finally met in person for the first time a couple of weeks ago. That’s amore!
Love on Level 7
Meanwhile, at Vicar Lane Shopping Centre in Chesterfield, romance is in the air for two little lovebirds, this time a pair of pigeons! Vicar Lane shared a video of the couple enjoying a sweet date in their carpark (we’re sure it’s romantic if you’re a pigeon), and hopefully, they’ll set up a love nest together soon. Watch this space!
