Social commerce options land on Twitter

Twitter has been working hard to develop a host of new shopping tools that will eventually provide direct, in-stream product listings, tied to business profiles in the app. This will enable Twitter users to both save product listings and make purchases, direct from tweeted content. Some users are seeing a ‘purchases’ tab on their account, with more features being unveiled to users over the coming months.

TikTok shares insights into user trends

TikTok surveyed over 7000 of its users to pull together some stats on behavioural trends and overall feeling when using the app, and presented the results of their survey as ‘Time Well Spent’

Stories come to an end on LinkedIn

In similar fashion to Twitter, LinkedIn too is calling time on their ‘Stories’ feature.

The platform says: “We introduced Stories last year as a fun and casual way to share quick video updates. We've learned a ton. Now, we're taking those learnings to evolve the Stories format into a reimagined video experience across LinkedIn that’s even richer and more conversational. We want to embrace mixed media and creative tools of Stories in a consistent way across our platform, while working to integrate it more tightly with your professional identity.

As part of this change, we’ll remove the current Stories experience by the end of September, as we work on the new experience.”

Instagram’s ‘10 days of live shopping’ social commerce event

With a stronger focus on commerce for the platform, Instagram looked to push this further with a 10 day ‘live shopping’ event, featuring celebrities showcasing new products over a live stream. Users were able to tune into these events by visiting the new “Live” destination in the Shop tab, a dedicated space within Instagram’s shopping experience for commerce-specific streams.

‘Super Follows’ launches on Twitter

Only in the US and Canada for now, Twitter’s new ‘Super Follows’ feature is a new paid subscription service, allowing certain creators to charge a monthly fee for the content they share on the platform - including ‘Super Tweets’; thoughts and information to be shared exclusively with their paying audience.
