Social media tips from Claire Austin England

Q. When did the business get started on social media?

The brand has been active on social media for eight years showing that consistency pays off.

Claire Austin England’s customers are usually between 25 to 37 and enjoy online shopping and are on the lookout to support independent designers and brands found through Instagram.

During the pandemic some of Claire's brides have sadly had to postpone their weddings two or three times. However, brides have remained optimistic and are using this time to continue planning their big days.  They each love using social media to discover bespoke and custom pieces.

Q. What is the biggest benefit you see from your social media presence?

The benefit from social media has been the increased reach, awareness and visibility of the brand. Under ‘regular’ circumstances Claire has a big local clientele because her studio is in a prime location. However, lockdown has seen her Instagram soar with brides coming to her from all over the country.

“I took a course in the British School of Millinery and completely relaunched my business turning Claire Austin England into a brand and created my first wedding collection five years ago. I handed in my notice at my full time job in January 2020 and my last day was two days before the first lockdown. Luckily, I got to work and my business accelerated,” says Claire.

Q. What has been your social media highlight?

Claire started designing eight years ago making winter headbands for friends whilst she was working at a West End Theatre as a stage hand. Stephen Fry was in one of the shows and Claire got to know him. He kindly tweeted about her business and her Twitter followers boomed.
