Top social media tips from a local charity and an indie fashion retailer

Every week we bring you top social media tactics and tips to help you drive your strategy forwards. We introduce you to real life businesses in multiple sectors which are growing using social media so you can learn from their success and do more of the same.

This week we're off to Re4orm, a community interest initiative in Torbay, and Wardrobe, an indie fashion retailer in Great Dunmow.

Wardrobe - independent women’s fashion retailer Great Dunmow

Nikki Anthony is the owner of Wardrobe, an independent boutique ladies fashion store on Great Dunmow High Street. Nikki's self taught at social media but she's learning fast and seeing results. Her use of video, showing the products on camera and showcasing how she has pivoted her business to focus more on casual wear due to events being cancelled is going down a treat with her followers on Instagram.

Top tip: Video is a powerful way for you to have face to face time with customers that you would usually have in a physical environment. Be yourself and pretend you're serving in store as you normally would. Everyone gets camera shy, but as Nikki proves, practice makes perfect.

RE4orm, community interest company Torbay

Katie Cavanna is the founder and managing director of community interest company RE4orm which helps to alleviate poverty for families in the Torbay community. Established in 2019 with the aim to raise aspirations through a community movement, Katie and ‘Team RE4orm’ have successfully helped feed thousands of families across Torbay during the pandemic.

Katie set up Food For Torbay and put out a call on Instagram and Facebook asking people to offer donations to feed families in the area. She tagged in local restaurants, schools and general businesses.

Katie says: “The response was phenomenal. Since that call out we have worked with 45 local businesses and 70 volunteers to deliver 30,000 cooked meals and food parcels to those in need. I am proud of Torbay, they have truly come together to support each other."
