Facebook to halt political ads after US election

Facebook is to enforce a temporary ban on political ads following the US presidential election, as it braces for a contentious night that may not end with a definitive winner. Steeling itself for the coming storm, a blog post read: “We plan to temporarily stop running all social issues, electoral or political ads in the US after the polls close on 3 November, to reduce opportunities for confusion or abuse."

Instagram releases new features to celebrate its 10th birthday, including Stories Map

Instagram is celebrating its tenth birthday and to mark the occasion, it has added a couple of new, celebratory features and updates, ranging from visual additions to the expansion of its eCommerce tools.
Its new Stories Map provides a private look at where you’ve posted Instagram Stories from (when you’ve used a location sticker) over the past three years.

Twitter tests making 'Quote Tweet' the default retweeting option

Twitter could be set to remove the current retweet menu options, and open direct to a 'Quote Tweet' composer window instead.

Instagram will automatically hide some comments as part of an attempt to stop bullying

The app will remove specific comments from view if they look like the kind of messages that have been reported in the past.

Users will still be able to see the comments, if they click a specific button asking to do so. But they will otherwise be automatically hidden, by default, in an attempt to discourage users from posting them in the first place.
