New social media features to add to your social media tool kit

2021 saw a never-ending rollout of new social media features across all social media platforms. The frenetic pace of development shows no sign of slowing as we start 2022, with new features being tested and rolled out on Twitter, LinkedIn, and of course Instagram. Here's a few to whet your appetite.

Twitter launches live test of full-screen, visual tweet reactions

Twitter’s taking the next steps with its full-screen, video reply option, with the launch of a live test on iOS that will enable users to choose ‘Quote Tweet with reaction’ to create and customise a unique tweet. Users will be able to add a full-screen video or image to respond to a tweet, with the original tweet then embedded in the visual. We like the look of this!

Choose how your Instagram feed displays

After announcing the return of its reverse chronological, algorithm-free post feed late last year, Instagram chief Adam Mosseri shared a preview of how its new options on this front.

The platform is testing new social media features for people to have more choice and control over what they see in feed. These tests include an ability to switch between three different views on your home screen:

- Home

- Favourites

- Following

All being well, the update will be rolled out to all of us this Spring. Time to start building those connections to ensure your business stays front and centre on people’s feeds.

LinkedIn brushes up its virtual networking options, as working from home continues to be the norm

LinkedIn is adding some new social media features to its live events tools, by launching an entirely new interactive events experience that allows members to more actively participate in the conversation. 

LinkedIn says, “we’ll kick off with a few thousand creators who will host events across different topics and themes – any member can tune in and participate. We’ll expand the ability to host Audio Events to more creators in the coming months, and we’ll start rolling out our Video Events format later this spring.”

If you and your business are not active on LinkedIn, now would be a great time to jump in and make use of the new features as they are rolled out.
