Facebook launches initial test of ‘Audio Rooms’

With Clubhouse downloads slowing and Twitter broadening access to its audio 'Spaces' tool, Facebook's new audio social options look set to shake-up the trend even further, with the company now launching the first public test of its recently announced audio tools with users in Taiwan.

TikTok adds new safety centre guide

TikTok has announced a range of new updates for its Safety Center, including new help resources to ensure that parents understand how to best protect their kids when they're using the app, and what tools they have at their disposal for reporting, detection, etc.

YouTube continues roll out of new Clips option

YouTube says that it will be rolling out its new Clips option to 10 times more channels over the coming weeks, providing another way to share specific segments from YouTube videos.

Clips enable users to select and share a small portion of an eligible video clip (up to 60 seconds in length), which will then play on a loop directly on the original video’s watch page and be perfect for social media or email.

Pinterest tests Live Streaming

With live streaming now available on almost every major social platform, it's little surprise to see Pinterest also looking at its own live stream options to help promote creators and boost engagement in the app.

Pinterest is planning to host a three-day virtual event that will feature live streamed sessions from top creators. The virtual event will run inside the Pinterest app on May 24th-25th.

Clubhouse comes to iOS

After more than a year of iOS exclusivity, social audio platform Clubhouse is releasing its Android app. It will be available in beta on Google’s mobile OS in the US first, allowing users to sign up and participate in its audio-only chat rooms.
