Twitter announces new scheduling tool within platform

It’s been a long time coming, Twitter has finally released the option to schedule tweets through their platform natively.

Twitter Ads now allow you to schedule organic and promoted tweets up to a year in advance. In addition, you can also view and manage scheduled tweets from within the Twitter Ads platform.

Industry views

Throughout the industry, views are generally positive. Steven Bartlett, Founder at Social Chain suggests it’s a “Game Changer”.

Twitter launching native tweet scheduling is huge news say Foundation Inc . Each month there are more than 3,000 searches on Google for some variation of “Tweet Scheduler” or “How To Schedule Tweets”.

Neil Patel discussed how scheduling tweets is really helpful, if you know that you have something to tweet about that is coming up in the future, or if you are looking to target customers who are in a different time zone to you.

However, something that could pose a challenge is the fact that tweets which have been created and saved via the website, will not be available to view on other devices, such as your phone. This could make it less appealing to people who work across multiple devices.

In addition, many people have been scheduling via third-party apps and are likely to be aligned with other systems. Therefore the number of people switching to using Twitter’s native scheduling is unlikely to be huge.

Key takeaway

Being able to schedule natively is a great addition to Twitter however, it will be interesting to see how many people use this new feature and how this affects scheduling tools such as Buffer and Hootsuite.
