Getting sticky with Instagram

With the much-lauded announcement last week that Instagram will soon be launching a ‘Links’ sticker in their Stories feature, there are a few more sticky updates in the offing; including ‘Super Mention’ (which seems to be linked to Insta’s donation tools). Apple and the great data-tracking controversy

It’s been an update that the big companies have pushed back against, however the hotly contested iOS 14.5 update has finally begun its rollout. iPhone users will be asked directly to opt-in to tracking of their activity within each individual app on their devices, something that could have major implications on targeted advertising. Facebook’s Spotify integration

Facebook and Spotify have joined forces to create a ‘miniplayer’ experience, which will allow Facebook users to stream from Spotify through the Facebook app, called Project Boombox. Users will be able to share tracks or podcast episodes to their Facebook news feeds, which will be displayed in a new miniplayer (for friends who have come upon the post) to enjoy as they explore their own feeds - arguably in a bid to keep users scrolling within the Facebook app; a metric that has notably been in decline in recent years.
