Hot off Twitter trending topics…. #pubsreopening. Well they will be, from July 4 to be exact. That’s right England’s (the rest of the UK are yet to get a reopening date), watering holes will be allowed to open their doors and beer gardens, and welcome punters for an alcoholic, or indeed non-alcoholic beverage. With strict social distancing protocols in place, albeit reduced to 1 metre; mandatory table service and a tracing app designed to keep things safe, we polled over 2,000 people to find out whether a trip to the local is top of the priority list right now...
46% of people say they will not return to pubs this summer

Over 2,000 people responded to the Maybe* twitter poll. And a resounding 46.5% of people told us they will be steering clear of pubs for summer. 30.1% are in no rush, they’ll play it by ear for the next 2-4 weeks. Meanwhile only 23.4% are ready for a cold one now, well at least in public.

With delivery companies like Naked Wines doing well over lockdown, and the news you can now host people at your home for dinner or drinks, the appeal of a pub garden is not as high as might have been expected.
Maybe* recently profiled shoppers attitudes to shops reopening, and there was a similar level of nervousness, though 90% of people said they’d be shopping again eventually. Let’s hope it's the same story for your local.
