Selling on Facebook: how to set up a store on social media

Many businesses big and small have now been instructed to close their doors to the public. Unless you are a supermarket, grocery shop, convenience store, chemist or otherwise indispensable service, you may find the only way to continue trading over the coming weeks and months is to go online.

Daunting as it may sound, getting started on eCommerce is likely easier than you think. In particular selling via social media.

Facebook and Instagram may well be a viable option for you. Selling via these platforms can be set-up easily and quickly.

Don't have time to create an online store? Then by creating a Facebook Shop on your Facebook business page will allow you to showcase your products quickly.

Creating a Facebook Shop

To add a Facebook Shop your business must sell physical items. Adding a shop to your existing Facebook Business Page will;

  1. Enable you to list products
  2. Add product details including colours, sizes, stock levels
  3. Add delivery details, return and exchange policies
  4. Share products from your shop directly to your Facebook Page’s content and timeline
  5. In order to take orders or payments you will need to either arrange this directly with the customer over Messenger or send them to a dedicated website

Adding your Shopify Shop to Facebook

If you have an existing eCommerce site on Shopify, BigCommerce or any other platform on this list, you will be able to connect your eCommerce site to your Facebook page. Facebook makes this super simple and you will not have to add products manually.

Creating a Facebook Shop to showcase products or connecting your online store is one way in which you can continue serving customers today.
